Welcome to the new Australian Property Forum!

The Australian Property Forum forum was opened as an alternative to the existing property forums in Australia. We decided to create this forum when it became apparent that Australia lacked a truly open and balanced forum for the discussion of the property market. Other existing Australian property forums each have their strengths and weaknesses, with some focusing primarily on the property investor and developer sector, and others focusing on the timing and probability of a major property crash. Both types of forum can at times suffer from a lack of balance, since 'property bears' are rarely welcomed on the 'investor' site, and 'property bulls' are rarely welcomed on the 'crash' site. On the other hand, the Australia Property Forum welcomes both bears and bulls. We encourage lively, even robust, debate between those who believe house prices will crash, those who believe prices will rise, and everything in-between. Discussion on precious metals, equities and general economics is also welcome.

The Australian Property Forum is a free forum. It does not cost the administrators anything to run, therefore we will never have any desire or reason to charge our members for access. Unlike other property forums (that charge their members a subscription fee) the Australia Property Forum is free and will always be free. We believe that our members build the forum through their own content (without the members there is no forum) and we believe it would be wrong to charge those members to post their content. Furthermore, any forum that forces members to pay a subscription fee would necessarily also require those same members to provide a real name and credit card details. This inherent loss of anonymity and privacy goes against everything we believe in here at the new Australian Property Forum. Forum anonymity is an important right, and in our opinion it would be an invasion of privacy to collect members personal details in order to charge them to use the forum, as other forums intend to do.

We look forward to seeing you on the new site.

Regards,

Alex and the APF team.

The Australian Property Forum is an Australian economics & finance forum dedicated to discussion of the Australian and global housing markets, including Australian house prices, global house prices, affordability, the likelihood of a global house price crash (GHPC), or an Australian house price crash. Is there an Australian housing bubble? Will house prices crash, boom or stagnate? Is it better to buy or rent? How might a credit crunch or peak debt situation impact Australian property prices? Is the Australian property market a pyramid or Ponzi scheme? Can house prices rise forever, or can we find a more simple and sustainable long term approach to managing the Australian housing market? These are the type of questions we hope to address here, at the Australian Property Forum, the premier site for property bears, bulls, investors, speculators and specufestors! This site includes a blog feature, so members may create their own property blog, bubble wiki or 'bubblepedia' (encyclopaedia of the Australian house price bubble). Members may also talk finance, talk money, debate kangaroo house prices, or discuss Somersoft style property investing topics.
