Hi,

Firstly, I am newbie, and would like to say (in agreeance with some other new members) how interesting and engaging this site is, keep up the good work guys.

I am currently investing in property in which I am slowly getting ahead. This is has left me in a position in which to invest again. I have been recently thinking of spreading my wings and branching out and entering the stock market.
This is an area in which I have little knowledge and am keen to get some advice on where to begin.

Would anyone be able to recommend a helpful resource or launching pad?

We live in Western Australia and the market has gone through the roof. There are some areas that are still affordable but this means we would have to move far away from the city. It would be our first house. We are renting at the moment in a very nice neighbourhood, very central. How did you start out? Do we have to make the sacrafice (move far away) to get into the property market? Or do we take out a smaller lone, give it to a friend who actually invests money for a living? Help!
