Saving money on phone bills

I saw this segment about a company called KHA Comms on Today Tonight last year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9Dgv_mC1ug

I joined up and am about to take advantage of the deductions on my tax return this year.

I think it is a good way of helping out a charity without having to sign up for one of those make-a-donation-once-a-month direct debit deals or buying raffle tickets. I help a chairty, they give me a good deal on my phone calls, I get to claim more back on tax and when I call their customer service I get to speak to someone in Australia.

The website is www.khacomms.org.au if you want to check it out.

You'd be surprised how really simple it is to lower utility costs. Make sure heat/air filters are cleaned/changed regularly. Turn off things in rooms not being used (lights and television). We do our cooking outside as much as possible in summer. Lots of grilled stuff. Yummy and it keeps the heat outside. Reverse that in winter. We make our jellies and do a lot of baking in winter when we want the heat in the house, anyway. Do all the usual things to make your house more energy efficient. Usually your electric company can provide you with a detailed list of things like weather stripping, caulking, etc. Do those things. Do check out fluorescent lighting. Works great and is most cost effective.
